The Pinewood Derby is designed to be a learning experience for a boy. It enables him to design, construct and detail his own car with adult supervision. The race itself is an opportunity to enrich competition, sportsmanship and sharing.
- The car must be built using the materials of the Official Grand Prix Pinewood Derby Kit (BSA cat. No. 17006). This includes the block of wood (body), nails for axels and wheels.
- The Cub Scout with some adult guidance should build cars. Parents are encouraged to build their own car. This is a great way to teach your scout how. Plus you may race your car (Jan 27).
- Cars entered in prior year’s races CANNOT be entered in this year’s race.
- Each car must pass inspection at registration in order to compete. Cars will only be accepted for entry during the registration/weigh-in period.
- The overall width of the car shall not exceed 2 and ¾ inches
