Sunday, December 2nd at 2:30pm is the Kernersville Christmas Parade. Pack 940 is planning to have a float just like last year. Hope you will make plans to join us for the fun. The Kernersville Chamber of Commerce is the parade sponsor and is holding an organizational meeting this Tuesday night November 27th at the Town Hall at 7pm. Pack representatives will be in attendance. Additional details will be sent out after they are provided at the meeting. In the past we have gathered at the Medical Offices on Broad Street around 1pm. I believe this will be the plan this year, but I won’t know for certain until Tuesday night. Parents are encouraged to walk with the float to help ensure safety. The Parade route will be from the Parks Chevrolet end of Mountain St and end at Kernersville Elementary School. Scouts should be picked up at Kernersville Elementary School promptly after the parade is over (when our float arrives at the school). Please sign up and provide the name of the scout and an emergency contact for Sunday afternoon. This is a great tradition for anyone who has grown up in Kernersville and we hope you will be able to attend
UPDATE: The float will be in place by 1pm in the medical offices parking lot next to Forsyth Pediatrics. This is beside Pineview St, which is off of Salisbury St. We should try to have everyone in place by 1:15-1:30pm. The parade doesn’t start until 2:30pm, but there is a 5K road race before the parade. The Chamber of Commerce representatives have said that Pack 940 could use Pineview Street as an access road to get to the float before the parade starts. I would advise against trying to use Mountain Street due to the race and closure before the parade. Once a scout has been delivered to the parking lot where the float is, all cars should turn around and exit using Pineview Street back to Salisbury St. The parade route will end at Kernersville Elementary School where all scouts should be picked up promptly. Please remember to sign up so that we will have an accurate list of scouts and contact phone numbers in case of an emergency.
