Sometimes technology fails us. Case in point was last night’s Outlaw Race (sorry about that). But thankfully, we were able to work the kinks out of the new track and software for the Pinewood Derby early this morning (Thank you Mark Porter). I think it is safe to say that this year’s race was a huge success. Pack 940 extends a special thanks Den 11 that crossed over last year for donating this new and awesome track.
We had 72 Scouts participate in this year’s race. Normally, this number of participants would take several hundred heats and more than 5 hours to complete. Because of the new track, timer and software, we were able to complete our race this year in 88 heats and under 2 hours of race time. Each car was run at least one time on each of the four lanes for both the Rank races and the Finals. If you were curious the fastest lane was lane 1 with an average time of 3.2108 seconds followed by lanes 2, 3 and 4. Ironically, lane two had the most number of first place wins, 24, followed by lane 1 with 22. Lanes 3 and 4 were tied with 21 first place wins each.
